OK, folks,   In my continual quest for self improvement and gainful employment, I have come across a situation where I may be able to assist someone and help myself at the same time. The only problem is, I need some information that I'm having difficulty finding (I'm not always the best at keyword selection). Here's the deal: a lady at our church has a son who is about 9 or 10 and has cerebral palsy. Because he's not going to be able to walk, she's having a great deal of difficulty...

Dear ladies and gents, I feel that as a newly converted Maxwellian peasant, I have the obligation to rise to the highest heights to which I as a lowly peasant may achieve. Therefore, I went on a journey to solve all of the world's problems, first and foremost those of the blogsite known as Joeuser. My quest first took me to a little known mountain in Tibet, where I was escorted to the summit by barefoot Tibetan monks walking upon rose petals placed there by enlightened eagles that showe...

Gideon the "hater" is at it again. On another post, I made a response about how the whole thing of insisting on keeping separate last names was "watering down marriage". I stated it, and I continue to believe it. More on this later, after I discuss what I did NOT say. I did NOT say the couple HAD to take the husband's last name, I did NOT say that the couple could not agree on a mutual hyphenated name, and lastly, and most importantly in this aspect, I did NOT say one single word, one way ...

OK, I just had this thought. Many conservative Christians are actively working to illegalize gay marriage. Still others straddle the fence, feeling it's not their area to intrude. Me, I think we ought to embark on a massive campaign to ENCOURAGE them to marry. We can get a bunch of them together in the Rose Bowl a la Sun Myung Moon, and have a big old rump-rangin' love in. Why, you ask? Won't this lead to the moral decay of our society? Far from it. Because homosexuality is genetic, ...

This from the "Metrowest Daily News": Party crashing: Massachusetts filmmakers document the campaigns of third-party presidential candidates By Chris Bergeron / News Staff Writer Sunday, September 19, 2004 As the band plays "Hail to the Chief," the speaker of the House solemnly intones, "Ladies and gentlemen, the president of the United States...Michael Badnarik." The next sound you'll hear is America's two-party system crashing down if that scenario occurs in the near fut...

12 states this year have amendments before their voters to ban same sex marriage in their quest to legislate morality within their borders. Our reigning president has also championed such legislation on the federal level. This brings me to what I consider to be the most deplorable, most shameful tactic of the political right (the left use it too, in different areas, but that's another blog): The use of emotionally charged issues to blindside voters to the real issues. In short, voters w...

Those who read my blogs regularly know that I am very outspoken about the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository that the government has been working for years to open in southern Nevada. It is a congressional boondoggle that has received or been promised over $1 billion in federal monies for the long term storage of nuclear waste. One of the chief selling points by the advocates of Yucca Mountain is the unlikelihood of seismic activity on the fault line upon which Yucca Mountain is posit...

OK, I know this one has been hit on a lot on this site, but the drudge report has an article linked to the Washington Times that shows the controversial Bush memo side by side with a memo from the Pentagon archives from the same time frame. Comparisons are made between the two. In case the image doesn't come through, I will link the report at the bottom of the page: Link

OK, OK...I am already in my flame retardant underpants for this one (thanks to Ravenblack, my supplier of fine, comfortable flame retardant blogging wear....Raven, don't forget to sign the check for the ad this time!). Up on the recent forum posts is yet another of the JU swan songs that have become far too typical of this site. What happens is this: someone comes onto JoeUser, asserts a controversial position consistently (usually pretty leftist, for the swan singers at least), and then b...

Well, the latest "story" from our pathological liar friend came in, and I am disgusted. First of all, and foremost, she now claims to be 19 years old and married, which brings up an interesting point. She tried to develop a relationship with capt. cornbread, who is, to my knowledge, under 18, which is, at the very least, skirting dangerously close to the boundaries of sexual predation (federal law is VERY clear regarding an adult over 18 soliciting a minor online). So she used him then dum...

Well, I stated the other day that I have an idea to help the poor...and I do. Many of you have responded, many have the information now. Well, the domain is parked, so I can officially release the proposal (enough people have seen it that I won't have any problem defending it as my concept, so I'm not as worried about it at this point). And so, without further ado, here it is (This is a rough draft, remember. Still much work to be done): Canning Poverty – A Proposal In the wake of our r...

This will hopefully be my last "down and out" series article. Thanks to JoeUsers, things are looking up (we still have to get rent current, but I am honestly say I'm optimistic for the first time in awhile that we can do it!) I did, however, want to include my notes from today, as part of my archives, because, even when we are on our feet, the battle has only just begun. Ours is one story among many, and the stories are likely as diverse as the people themselves. I truly feel I can use the va...

OK, Latest update on my situation. I have received many responses from people wondering how they can help. I may have just the way -- and a way to help others in similar situations at the same time. Email me at miner432004@yahoo.com for more information. I'm not putting it out on the blog because I don't want the idea swiped from under me. Thanks, Gideon MacLeish
