Link You've probably heard about this, but in case you haven't, I will enlighten you. Our psychic friends will be attempting to summon John Lennon from his otherworldly digs to enlighten them with his wisdom. The event will be broadcast live via pay per view for anyone who needs something with a little more ooomph than reruns of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" to make their existence on this plane substantial. The only objection I have to this is, if you're going to whore yourself out, go ...

Spring is in the air and what does that mean? Easter? Nope! Snoop down at Ft. Lauderdale with a camcorder? Guess again! Dick Cheney shooting lawyers? Well, that TOO, but that's not what this blog is about. No, spring means the arrival of a whole new batch of peeps. These confections, originally designed to produce diabetic comas in elephants to put them to sleep for transport, were apparently the fourht gift of the unmentioned Magi at the birth of the Christ child. Some years back, friend...

****SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT**** Although I'm not going anywhere, I wanted to alert my readers to my newest blogsite, soon to be linked on the sidebar. As you all know, I have been with blogexplosion for some time. They are a great service for bringing traffic to your blogs (blogclicker is another...both linked on my sidebar). Blogexplosion is launching a blog service that is supposed to pay based on readership and ad revenue. While I have no illusions about getting rich by blogging anytime so...

Jinny Robot Monster found a good website promoting the ice planet Hoth (if you're a Star Wars geek, you don't need an explanation. If you're not, you wouldn't understand it anyway) to host the 2014 Winter Olympics ( Link ). I have another suggestion: One continent has been consistently overlooked by the IOC, and that is the continent of Antarctica. Antarctica is the perfect choice, as it is internationally claimed, and has an abundance of ice and snow so that our athletes can do their thing....

Link Comedy Central has bowed to the pressure put on it by former "South Park" star Isaac Hayes' departure from one of its leading programs. They've made the decision not to re-play the episode that bashes Scientology. This is exactly the backlash many feared when it was announced Hayes was leaving the show because creators Trey Parker and matt Stone DARED bash his religion in a show that pretty much bashes every and any sacred cow it can find. Speculation is that Tom Cruise, a fellow S...

As we move into the weekend hoping for enough rain to put an end to the constant vigilance we have had to maintain since we put out the fires that threatened our community, we're beginning to assess the damage. Our department lost a truck, although the three firefighters in it were treated and released for minor injuries. A nearby department still has a firefighter in critical condition. Over 11 deaths have been blamed on the fire, and at least 8 towns in our area including our own had to be ...

Couldn't post this until today because of the server problems. Posted it on my sister site, though, but am reposting it here now: Sunday morning started out slow. I was tired and decided not to go to church when my wife awakened me at 9 am. I had a broken down car and wanted to try to fix it. By the time I woke up to go out and work on the car, the winds were gusting up to 62 miles per hour, and the plan to work on the car was scratched. I ran across a friend who asked why I wasn't out fig...

in 2000, Casey Gann was a desperate woman. She was homeless and jobless at the time and was duped by CPS case workers in Michigan into believing that placing her children in foster care was in the best interests of those children. In 2002, the state of Michigan terminated her parental rights, insisting she had not completed enough of court ordered services to retain those rights. A year later, her oldest son, Ricky, was adopted by Tim and Lisa Holland, who later adopted two of Ricky's half sibli...

George Bush is once famously quoted as saying that the US would be easier to govern as a dictatorship if he were the dictator. While I've never heard this quote directly, I have often heard it attributed to him (mostly by critics). He appears to have taken steps to make the US easier to govern over the years. Operating with a solid base of UnConstitutional legislation from his predecessor, Bush used the tragedy of September 11, 2001 to further erode our rights and remove our government furthe...

Flashback to 1985. I was a 15 year old idealogue. A friend of mine and I climbed out of my 1976 Cutlass S (with swivel bucket seats...WAY cool at parties!) and went down into the dank basement of a church in my hometown. Around the table sat about 20 people, many of whom were college professors, doctors, and other intellectuals within the community. After I was introduced, I was excited, as they began talking about situations near and dear to my heart: The apartheid system in South Africa, th...

Everything I need to know about economics, I learned from the board game "monopoly". My strategy at the beginning of the game was simple: buy every property you land on, even if you have to mortgage existing properties to do it. When you have monopolies, build as soon as possible as much as possible. I, of course, would usually attempt to control the high rent/low rent combos of boardwalk, park place, baltic and mediterranean, because that gave me "the corner". Even an "advance to go" card wo...

The Dubai ports deal has pointed out an amazing inconsistency among the left. Maybe they should have a little powwow and get their stories straight rather than rely on talking points to guide them in policy making decisions. You see, since September 12, 2001, the liberals among us have insisted that Islam is a "religion of peace", and that we shouldn't consider terrorist extremists as representatives of Islam. Over the last couple of years they've taken it upon themselves to relabel the terro...

Well, we had to take my oldest for her eye exam today. Turns out her far vision's pretty lousy, although she's never complained about it. For her the best part was (of course) choosing frames for the glasses. The optician brought out the frames and one of the first she tried was pink colored. I know my kids, and knew she was pretty much sold on those. She tried on a few more pairs, but went back to the pink. We went with wire frames because I, as a long time wearer, know that they are lighter...
