As we come into yet another Presidential race, we're again going to be pressured to choose between candidates from one party or another to represent us in leadership. As a techie, I can't help but think of how this is oh-so-similar to the O/S wars, which I see played out on the forums all the time. How are you supposed to choose between two options when they BOTH suck? As in politics, computer manufacturers have long been able to get away with offering limited options and features. As the ...

Ralph Deleuro has a million dollar idea. Ever since a drive in Las Vegas' downtown district, Deleuro has been convinced that there was a better way to take care of transactions among the nation's downtrodden. Deleuro watches with dismay as a beggar who went by the street name "Gonzo" was beaten and left for dead outside the liquor store for the few dollars he had managed to beg that night on Vegas' famour Fremont Street. Now, Deleuro believes he has come up with the solution. Armed wit...

On another blog, a blogger stated that "their God" loves gays. Besides wondering if they have little wooden tiki guys they worship, that allow them to definitively state what their God does and doesn't like (eg: "God likes broccoli", "God likes to watch Wapner at 7"), I have to wonder why they would think God loves gays, when nature clearly does not. See, the ultimate goal of a species in regards to natural selection is its own advancement. This can only happen when people are procreating (I ...

OK, so the Vick statement's out now. Those who wish can read it on Yahoo! Sports. I read through the statement and I am now more pissed at Vick than ever. The guy's obviously got a PR agent restructuring his "comeback" before he's paid his dues. Why do I say that? Well, I'll excerpt his statement here and SHOW you why: "For most of my life, I've been a football player, not a public speaker, so, you know, I really don't know, you know, how to say what I really want to say.   --This...

"Ever'body might be just one big soul Well it looks that a way to me. Everywhere that you look in the day or night That's where I'm gonna be, Ma, That's where I'm gonna be. Wherever little children are hungry and cry Wherever people ain't free. Wherever men are fightin' for their rights That's where I'm gonna be, Ma. That's where I'm a gonna be. "Tom Joad", Woody Guthrie The illegal immigration debate is nothing new. In fact, the debate about illegals destabilizing the ...

We have a new guest in our house. Bobomono. See, Quinn's thre now, and he's all boy. He and Lani, our five year old, have the kind of relationship I have ONLY heard of twins having. They share a secret language, and each is automatically in tune with the other's feelings. They look out for each other pretty diligently, and they share a number of "inside" stories and jokes that they leave the rest of us out of. And so, a few weeks ago, when "Bobomono" (pronounced "Bob-oh-moan-oh") came on t...

When I came on to JU, oddly enough, my original intent was to blog on religion. It was the single most important topic in my life, and I wanted to discuss it, to debate it, and to share some thoughts. As time went by though, my blog became more political. And in my daily life, I wish there was more I could do to grow and fellowship as a Christian. But over time I have learned an astounding fact. Despite what they tell you when they lead you to Christ, despite what they say from the pulpits...

Another blogger (let's call this blogger "Darcie Doo") asked about surrogate parenting. The question, for mothers, is if they would do it given the opportunity. "Darcie Doo" went on to say what a beautiful thing children are and what a blessing. Now, considering less than 24 hours prior, this individual had suggested that we should not have had some of ours, and insinuated that we neglect them, I find this statement absolutely astonishing. Apparently children are beautiful only if you make $1...

I want to preface this article by stating very clearly that much of the following does not apply to all of the left. Or even all of the left's lunatic fringe. But I was very specifically called out with some very specific allegations by one particular representative of the left's lunatic fringe (who, I would hope, would be regarded by most libs as an embarassment to their ideology). Because of the response of the individual, I am not going to let sleeping dogs lie, nor let bygones be bygones. ...

Walter Williams had an excellent article this week where he discussed the issues of the current global warming debate and the hypocrisy of those who endorse it. It would be wrong to label them all "the left", because there are loonies on both sides of the aisle on this one, but the loony crowd does seem to lean a little to the sinister side. In my article "The Pothead Who Came to Dinner", I discussed the hemp argument on alternative fuels and the hypocrisy evident in the fact that the hemp le...

OK, here's the setup. I was going to get my haircut. Because my time's usually short and today was no exception, I decided to see what the hair salon at WalMart could do. I'm familiar with their setup. They don't take reservations, you walk in, sign up, and they get you whenever they feel like it. But it was fairly early, so I figured I'd take my chances. I went in to the hair salon, which was open, looked around, nobody. Through a couple mirrored reflections, I could see a lady in the v...

We just completed an "initiation" trip for our dog in our truck. We're trying to get him acclimated to vehicle riding, as we're hoping to have him join us on more of our jaunts. After all, what's the point of having a pet if you cen't include them in your little adventures? As I pulled away from the house, I took an extra step of precaution. A step that made me, oddly enough, thankful for the sensationalist media. See, whenever I pull away from the house, there's always a cursory check for...

As you hunt around the Internet, it's not hard to find loads of people rallying for alternative energy sources. What is telling to me is not the questions thaat are asked, but the questions that remain unasked. One of the most oft ignored replacement technologies for petroleum is biodiesel. Of all of the alternatives mentioned, biodiesel is unique in that it can be used in diesel engines currently in operation. This means an EXTREMELY reduced expense in trying to replace hundreds of millions ...

LW wrote a recent article on a woman who is suing a doctor because he refused to impregnate her because she was not married. Or, that's his story. The woman's story is because she's a lesbian, and many liberals across the country have taken up the cause, comparing the "right" of this woman to get pregnant BY THIS SPECIFIC DOCTOR to a century's worth of Jim Crow and three centuries worth of slavery before that! The problem is, this is in the awake of their defense of the movie "Sicko" and demand ...
