The journey from there to here

Another blogger (let's call this blogger "Darcie Doo") asked about surrogate parenting. The question, for mothers, is if they would do it given the opportunity. "Darcie Doo" went on to say what a beautiful thing children are and what a blessing.

Now, considering less than 24 hours prior, this individual had suggested that we should not have had some of ours, and insinuated that we neglect them, I find this statement absolutely astonishing. Apparently children are beautiful only if you make $100k a year and drive fancy cars. Because God knows, second hand clothes and beans and rice are neglect (the part about the beans and rice was almost directly said by this individual).

Now, I happen to know this individual considers themselves a good, faithful Christian. If you don't believe me, just ask this individual. Now, I may be reading my Bible wrong, but somehow it seems to me there's a few verses on "love" in there. Love this person can muster for a cat, love they can muster for someone else's children (to the point of dictating to parents how said children should be raised), but love they are seemingly incapable of raising for someone who happens to have a large family.

But this individual is not alone in their hypocrisy. Oh no. In fact, in the VAST MAJORITY of "Christian" churches I have attended (most of them composed of people predominantly anti abortion), I have found only a small minority accepting of our large family. In fact, the only denominations I have found that have consistently been accepting of our large family have been the Catholics, the Mormons, and the Mennonites. Well, we're not Catholic, not Mormon, and the nearest Mennonite fellowship is over an hour away. So we're kinda outta the loop there.

I am tired of Christians who talk about how life is a blessing but don't support life. Who tell the ghetto crackwhore she can't abort her baby, but who don't support the idea of helping people like that to better their lives so they won't feel so damned desperate. Who look down on families with many children, and even accuse them of neglect because they don't live to the standard these Pharisees have deemed acceptable.

I love my children, each and every one of them. And if this individual cannot see where I was offended, then truly they DO have some sort of mental illness. They attacked my family, and when they did that, I feel I was totally within my boundaries to respond in kind. Truly, I hope this individual's teaching career is short. The children of America do not NEED judgmental hypocrites like that teaching their kids.

I would have kept it on this individual's thread, but I was invited off of it. So I'm going to respond somewhere.

maybe that is where they found the chicken

Or maybe that's where the recipe was created.

Maybe it's the name of the guy who runs it. "Hi, I'm Mr. Church. Come get some chicken."

Ouch, I'd hate to think of KFC being called Col Sanders Fried Chicken. Then again I can't imagine someone (besides the cartoon character) being called Popeye either.

Way to go with the name disguising!

Why in the world would anybody be condemning of a large family?? Perhaps if it is someone who continues to have children when they can't/won't provide for them or just plain out neglect them. But for a family that loves and provides for the kids, where is the room for judgment/condemnation?? I am sorry, truly sorry that you have experienced this. My heart breaks thinking how people can be so cruel.

go morman

daniel,

One thing you will find about me is that I am honest. I do not believe in the Mormon faith. And I won't debate it.

Thanks for the suggestion, though

I remember when I lived in New Jersey at 18 years old I had a Mormon church across the street. Right off the back they made me not want to be part of their religion when they tried to lure me in by throwing a teenage party in the basement area of the church and tried to get the pretty girls from the church to invite me, from right off the street, to have juice, a snack and even dance. I went in out of curiosity, but the idea of using a party to pull me in was enough to walk away. I didn't want to join a religion just to be close to some cute girls.

While I'm not saying all Mormon churches are this way, one was enough for me.

Nothing wrong with cute girls inviting you to a party. Nothing wrong with going to the party. You shouldn't judge a religion based on how they get you in the door, but how they act once you're there. Also probably shouldn't judge a religion based on how cute the girls are...

Especially a religion not allowing sex before marriage...

the church has these dances at least once a month doesn't matter if you go or not. the girls were just being nice. how many of them even asked if you were a member one or two.

It is wrong to me when they are using the girls and a party theme to get people to join as oppose to trying to sell me their religious beliefs. I never said it was wrong to go to the party, I went, for a few minutes. But I am not all for tricking young people into joining a church thru cute girls and a party. Even if they don't believe in no sex before marriage, not everyone knows that, especially a teen who is ignorant the religion and is easily swayed by cute girls.

Also probably shouldn't judge a religion based on how cute the girls are...

Ah, my point exactly? But maybe instead of giving me advice on how not to judge a church or religion you should be pointing towards how the church or religion used the girls to get me in. Funny how I came across as the bad guy in a situation where a religion tried to trick me into joining by appealing to my likes. Did I mention that one of the adults told me that these parties were common in that church as if saying join the church for the parties? Of course how can I expect anyone here to understand since none of you were there. As far as you guys are concerned I'm just exaggerating or making something seem like its not.

Hehe, nice how you are talking as if you were there. Sure they were being nice, interesting though how they took me straight to one of the adults as oppose to just wanting me to eat, drink or dance. BTW, there were 6 girls. I'll never forget, they were all cute in their dresses and all. Hey, I can't help it, I was single, desperate and looking. Don't know why 6 girls had to get me, 1 would have done the trick. Believe what you want, I know what I saw, what I heard and what I felt. This was not a just being nice situation, especially when I wasn't the only kid outside but just happen to be alone. I can remember with great detail, one of the girls had a nice black and red dress that was a bit tight and she had beautiful long black hair and eyes to melt for.

You know my dad believes Mormons are just another Gov't agency disguised as a religion. Go figure.
on Aug 21, 2007
Actually, cults do that too.

I wasn't trying to make you out as a bad guy. Sorry.
