The journey from there to here

While I do not endorse the practices of former Senator Josephy McCarthy in "outing" communists in America or in destroying lives in the ensuing witch hunt, I find it frightening that the hammer and sickle of the failed Soviet Empire is beginning to march its way down Main Street, USA. I find it more frightening the WAY it is happening; not through the Democratic process but through the workings of several individuals who are coming to prominence in the media and attempting to completely SUBVERT the Democratic Process.

Think I'm paranoid? Well, see, even a few years ago, you might have been justified in lobbying that accusation. But the proof is quickly mounting, including but not limited to Cindy Sheehan's meeting with Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, a public relations stunt no doubt undertaken with Sheehan's possible future Senate run in mind.

The most glaring example of the communist movement's insurgency into America is the World Can't Wait movement, which was initiated (by its own admission) by the Revolutionary Communist Party and has as its spokesperson a young lady named Sunsara Taylor, an avowed Maoist. These are not just ad hominem allegations; the connection to the Revolutionary Communist Party can be found in the FAQ section of the movement's website, and the Maoist philosophy of Ms. Taylor was her own public admission during an appearance on the Michael Medved show.

Now, this movement is, for the most part a fringe movement, and the usual group of signatories to anything that attempts to shout down the Republican Party can be found among its supporters. But one very telling development of the inroads this movement is making is that three sitting congresspersons including Maxine Waters have signed the petition to "drown out the Bush regime" (the goals of the organization are to force Bush and Cheney to resign; apparently the Commies have a thing for the idea of a President Hastert...but I digress).

In a nation where true poverty (according to World Bank Standards) is almost unheard of, it is ironic that there would be any credibility given to the elements that would want to destroy the system that CREATED that economy. And it is sad that the words of Nikita Kruschev, who declared that the USSR would take over the US without firing a single shot, now seem within the realm of the possible, if not improbable, instead of being the ravings of a loon.
