I have a set of goals for 2006. I didn't do resolutions, because they just don't work. But a new year IS a good time to evaluate where you've come from and where you're going.
By this time next year, my primary goal is to be preparing for inauguration in the Texas State Legislature. Every other goal takes a back seat to that. While I realize that I am a dark horse, even in the two person race I face, I am not content with the words "moral victory" to define this campaign. In other words, I don't do ANYTHING to lose. There are, however, some moral victories to be had in the event that I don't win; that of bringing awareness to the injustices of the horrific CPS system, and hopefully advancing the agenda as a platform issue to the state and, hopefully by '08, the national level.
But I have other goals as a writer. I hope to be online by late January so that I can prepare a book for self publication somewhere in the second quarter of the year. By this time next year, I hope to have two books in print, the second being based on the campaign that I will be waging through the year.
But the goal I am most excited about is my goal to further solidify my presence online (once I'm online full time) both to market my self published book and to increase my visibility as a writer. To that end, I'm hoping to have podcasts to offer by the middle of the year. By doing this, I will not only be able to bring more visitors to my site, but through the regular public speaking, will be further able to hone those skills for any debates as the election season heats up.
So I encourage all of you to stay tuned. It should be a wild ride, and this blog site will be at its center.
