The journey from there to here
Flame ON! (with apologies to LW)
Published on December 13, 2005 By Gideon MacLeish In Blogging

So, here's the scenario. I come into the library this morning, log on, and quickly find the latest "farewell blog" from a blogger who has basically made a whole blog of farewell blog's. The gist is this: you guys aren't treating me the way I want to be treated, so I'm gonna take my ball and go home.

My response: fine. Don't let the door hit you. You may be fed up with us because our answers don't extol your virtues and extol you as the purveyor of all wisdom, but, frankly, I'm equally fed up with your whiny victim mentality. Every time you post an article, you're quick to flame anyone with an opposing view, no matter how tactfully put. And when you're called to the carpet, what do you do? Play the victim card again, blaming it on depression or any other excuse you can name. it's revolting and overdone.

I've never claimed to be fair, never claimed to be balanced. I do, however, attempt to be honest. Frankly, however, if anything, I've been tactful. But the tact filter's quickly been broken by your accusations that I've somehow been less than cordial, less than respectful of you and your opinion. Frankly, the fact that you are so obviously mentally unstable really causes me to question your fitness for the job you've chosen as a career. Wisdom on your part might mean hiding some of your articles so that fellow educators or (gasp!) those ignorant, stupid parents who must bow to your wisdom because you are their intellectual superior.

If you can't stand the heat, frankly....getting out of the kitchen might be a good game plan. It doesn't get a whole lot better than this, sorry.

I guess I missed that one.  I did not see any good bye blogs today.

No, it's more of a "JU, you didn't kiss my rosy rear end so I'm mad at you" article, but the tone implies that it's headed in that direction.

Frankly, the deal from me is this: if you want my opinion, you'll get it (again, to quote LW..."warts and all"). But if you're going to solicit opinions (by leaving commenting open and posting to forums) then use such a backhanded way to "get back" at others for posting opinions that didn't kiss up, it's not worth my time. Poor form indeed from a professional educator.

lol, LW.

When I compile my book sometime early next year, I actually intend to include that article. Why? Because as inane as it is, it contains some valuable lessons for anyone wanting to build up their blog.

That's random. I'm not getting the point.

His point was he thought I was doing a flip-flop. I wasn't. This blogger has posted several "goodbye" articles, and the article they had posted yesterday indicated they were, again, going down that track. He thought he was being clever, in other words.

But, as I look this morning all articles on that particular blog have been hidden or deleted.

Hidden.  If they were deleted, the article count would be decremented.

Get your facts straight, Gid--it's her "shiny white a@#" as she so very kindly pointed out to Karma a while back.
