The journey from there to here

As many of you know, I've written several articles detailing routine Constitutional rights violations of the Child Protective Services in the United States. On my blog the other day came yet another criticism of my anti-CPS stance. The respondent apparently thought I was responsible for posting pro-CPS rebuttals to my argument.

Fact is, you can readily find several articles written that support the CPS and their actions. All you have to do is check the mainstream media. They detail the truly sensationalistic instances of abuse, and by admission imply that such instances are typical of all child abuse/neglect cases, when in fact they are not. Because of the controversial nature of an anti-CPS position, most media personnel are afraid to take them on. And far too many people believe the Constitutional rights violations are an acceptable means to the end. Mainstream media has, in short, painted a massively deceptive picture.

But the larger point is, I have NEVER claimed to be "fair and balanced". You won't find it in my blog description, any personal profiles, or any biographical information, unless it's written unknowingly by someone else. I'm NOT fair, I'm NOT balanced, I am who I am without apology. And I speak against injustices where I see them and will continue to do so.

Maybe this will cost me readers. True, the point whore in me cringes at such a thought. But the point whore in me is not the man I have to wake up and face in the mirror. My hope is that my small wave will eventually make an impact that can be felt beyond these pages.

And I can't make that impact if I water down my comments by rebutting my own well researched points. Nor, in fact, should I. Can you imagine MLK speaking against segregation while expressing sympathy for the Southern bigot and the infringement on his way of life? Or Karl Marx expressing sympathy for the imperiled capitalist? Somehow, their rhetoric would have lost much of its punch. As would mine.

Consistent and thorough debate requires compiling your own evidence to counter the claims of the person you oppose. Over the last few weeks, I have presented a veritable mountain of evidence against CPS, while the majority of "rebuttals" to my response have been expressions of opinion against the validity of the Constitution, rather than firm support of the CPS system. Not only have I exposed many of the CPS' routine abuse of liberties, I have also systematically proposed changes that could make the system work better, both to identify and prosecute REAL abusers and to exonerate the innocents. Apparently, though, these parts of my articles have gone largely unread by the opposition.

If you feel that CPS is a benign fairy in which we should all place our trust, well, I guess that's your right (I feel for our future, though, if you're in the majority, as you appear to be). But if you expect me to provide ammo for you to rebut my arguments, forget it. Do your own damn homework!

if you were fair and balanced, you would be an enigma, not a blog!

Dr. Guy,

The downside is, I just killed any shot of getting sponsored by Fox News by my admission (hehe)
