The journey from there to here
Published on April 8, 2005 By Gideon MacLeish In Misc

I am an onion ring afficianado.

In my quest to lose weight, the occasional order of onion rings is a "must have" for maintaining sanity.

Over the years, in every place I have lived, one of the first things I have done is sought out the best onion rings in the community. While the occasional tavern or local restaurant has provided inspiring rings, the two most reliable places I have found, depending on your region, are Sonic Drive Ins and Culver's Frozen Custard.

Here are the ground rules, though: Blooming onions don't count. While delicious in their own right, blooming onions lose points for fad quotient. Minced onion onion rings do not count, either. They have to be bona fide onion rings.

So, let's hear your submissions.

Well this is totally amateur-onion-ringish of me, but I have to say that in all my years, it just doesn't get any better than A&W.
