The journey from there to here

Eric Crouch, formerly of the St. Louis Rams and the Green Bay Packers (and a now forgotten Heisman Trophy winner in 2001), is attempting to revive his football career with the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europe.

There's just one problem: Crouch is a two time quitter.

When he was with St.Louis, Crouch retired because the team put him in the position of wide receiver, a position he had not played much since high school, and frankly did not want to play. After bailing on the Rams, he went on to the Green Bay Packers, where he stayed for the preseason, then retired. He wasn't specific about his reasons, but one can assume that he had arrived with the quixotic thought that he would supplant either Packers QB Brett Favre or veteran backup Doug Peterson for a higher spot than #3 on the depth chart. But the point is,he didn't have the wherewithall to work to earn a higher position.

Now, with NFL Europe, the question will arise, how much growing up could Crouch have done in less than a year? Is he willing to work to earn a return to the NFL based not just on his skill (ahich was proven,at least at the college level), but more importantly, on his determination and willingness to ride through the low points to become a quality NFL quarterback? History says no; only time will tell what Crouch's heart says.
