The journey from there to here
Published on January 25, 2005 By Gideon MacLeish In Blogging

I meandered through the featured articles today to find that one author had disabled comments (fair enough), but had picked chosen responses (out of context, no less) to post to the article. His comment after my entry (in which he left my username intact) was, "I'll deal with you later, peewee".

I'm inclined to ask (as I couldn't on his article) what this means. Is it a threat? In which case, it should be removed from the featured articles as it is a violation of TOS. At any rate, this megalomaniacal blogger has been removed from commenting on my articles, as, frankly, I strongly question whether they have anything of worth to contribute.

At issue were the questions raised as to the validity of this person's experience. This person stretched their credibility to the nth degree, then took the opportunity to lash out at those who challenged their statements. My statement was made to someone who stated that after reading the article they were glad they didn't live in America, and I made a comment to the fact that the city in question didn't represent all of America. Hardly a vitriolic response, and not even directed to the original poster.

At any rate, if the response was intended as a threat, I do hope the person in question will learn from their experience.

Interesting post. You bring up some good points Gideon. I suppose the two that startled me the most were the ones in which a slow, painful death was wished on a fellow blogger here. I think that is entirely inappropriate, as are many of the comments left by the author.
