The journey from there to here

Recently, I saw a blogger bashed for taking the position on abortion that "I think abortion is wrong, but I support a woman's right to choose". I didn't state it on that blog, but that has been the "official" line I have taken.

I am not a fence sitter; however. I have VERY strong opinions, I'm just strong enough in them to not feel the need to defend them, or proselytize you to them.

If you would prefer I say "I think abortion is completely repugnant, but I support the right for people to do stupid things to themselves", I will. If you would prefer me to say, "The only reason I think abortion should be allowable on demand rather than solely in cases of incest and rape is to spare a hurting woman the additional trauma of having to get a court order to eliminate the damage done to her", I will.

But, I think the terminology "I think abortion is wrong but support a woman's right to choose" is much nicer language.

Don't you?

It's a valid position, IMO. Personally, I don't see a thing wrong with abortion, but I'd rather somebody hold the position you do rather than be unyielding in their quest to tamp down reproductive freedom. I don't think it's sitting on the fence, I think it's a valid self-compromise.
