The journey from there to here

I hate the Yankees.

As a die hard Mariners fan, it's one of the first rules in the bylaws (shortly under being glad the M's left their exile under that concrete atrocity known as the Kingdome some years back).

However, recent events have put me in a pickle. I follow some of my favorite M's players when they've moved on (ARod going to the Yankees was no big deal-- he's dead to me now...lol). Randy Johnson is one of the key players I have followed since his exodus from Seattle. His role in building the team to respectability was as big as if not bigger than Griffey's (my personal feeling was that it was BIGGER; the M's had star hitters before Griffey, but they did not have a pitcher with the ability to intimidate and completely overwhelm an opponent that Randy has). Now that RJ's a Yankee, I have to take that under advisement. I'd like to see RJ manage to hold in for 300 wins (unlikely, as he's at 246 and 41 years old,but not altogether impossible), I'd like to see him pass the 4500 K threshhold (more likely than the 300 wins), and I'd like to see him pass Nolan Ryan's record for 10 + strikeout games (he's somewhere around a dozen less; barring injury and as long as the Yanks don't put him on a pitch count, he should get it).

And I wouldn't mind him notching another no-no before he exits the game (Don't laugh, remember his perfect game last year).

So, I think I have it figured out. For about 20% of the Yankees games this year I'll put on pinstripes.

But only if RJ's number is on the back.

I am a Mets fan.  WHo can forget the likes of Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan!  But those were self inflicted (i.e., Doubleday is a jerk!).  I have never hated the Yankees.  Kind of admire them.  NO other Franchise in any sport has had the run they have.

But I will continue to root against them every time, except when they play the Bosox! Or Atlanta.
