The journey from there to here

I am relieved that 186 people in the House of Representatives have some sanity left.

The Republican controlled House voted 227-186 in favor of the same sex marriage ban, enough to muster a simple majority, but far short of the 2/3 needed to pass the Bush backed proposed amendment. While it is sad that over 200 representatives support such authoritarian intrusions on personal life and liberty, it is somewhat relieving to know they don't enjoy enough support to legislate it at this time.

Sadly, one Representative (Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md), ACTUALLY USED the tired old line "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve". If he is your representative, might I suggest smacking him with a nerf bat?

Thank god for a 2/3 needed majority. Let us hope a single party never controls 2/3 of the house.

"God created Adam and Eve"

Then they created Cain and Able, and then they populated the Earth. Eve was REALLY tired after that.

It would be nice to get some of the 'Red Herring' Issues out of politics.

(sigh)

There will be ALWAYS hot button issues in politics.

Right now, it is gay marrage, Iraq.

Old hot button issues: abortion, whitewater.
