The journey from there to here

With any ongoing crisis, you tend to have up days and down days. Yesterday was a down day, in part, I think, because there was nothing I could do (besides scope out places where we'll be able to camp out if we're left homeless, which is far more depressing than doing something to avoid BECOMING homeless).

Bad news on the donut shop. The manager hired someone already. Which ticks me off. I went in on Wednesday, when the posting came out and was told to come back the following day because they didn't have any applications in the store; they were all in the office. So I come back the following day, and the position's filled. It is beginning to feel like I'm playing against a stacked deck here.

I emailed my contact information to dharmagrl, so if anyone has any "ins" with the media in Vegas, I have given her permission to give it out to people who are sincere about helping. I may not be online after today, and will have to limit my internet activity to when I can get a slot at the local library (10 miles away, so I'll have to be travelling in for something else). We found a couple old coins, but none with any redeemable value significant enough to make a difference right now.

We received an odd notice Friday. A notice for a certified letter arrived in my wife's name. I don't see any way this could be a bill collector, as all the bills back in Wisconsin were in my name...we're hoping it's a ray of hope (yeah, it may be a pipe dream, but at this point, we're grasping at straws).

Once again, thank you for your prayers, good thoughts, and support.

signing off,

Gideon MacLeish

Gid...I emailed the Review-Journal and The Sun this morning, so keep your fingers crossed that they take an interest.  I can help out with the clothing and I think I can help out with the shoe situation...I'll call you later and let you know.

How much longer is your address going to be good for?  Can I still mail things to your old mailing address?

you are remaining positive and active regardless, gideon, and you're doing all you can for your family, no matter how hard it is for you. that takes real strength.

It is beginning to feel like I'm playing against a stacked deck here.

life has dealt your family some very harsh blows in our short acquantance, gideon. i do admire your courage. you are an inspiration to all of us.

gid, you still have your computer, so make sure you keep up your blogging in as much as you are able in the circumstances. i think this blog has helped you express yourself and provided support to you in your troubled times, and it would be a shame to lose that now. maybe you could store your articles on a disc 'post ready' and put them up in a batch when you travel in ?.

Once again, thank you for your prayers, good thoughts, and support.

these will continue. my love to you and yours from far away australia

still no eviction notice, so we're good for at least another week at this address...if I have to get a PO box, I will make sure to forward the mail to it, so the old addy will work.
