The journey from there to here
What do Milosevic, Hitler, Idi Amin, and Gideon MacLeish have in common?

OK, this one off the funny papers.

In the now growing war against me (no, I'm not kidding, it's gotten pretty stupid), I have been accused of violating someone's human rights.

Did I hack into their computer and edit their blogs? Did I manipulate joeuser's servers and hide them? No...I CRITICIZED them. For this, I get categorized as a "human rights" violator.

Please show me any international agreement that stipulates the right to blog without criticism. It isn't there.

What I cannot escape here is the irony of it all -- I have spent much more time PROMOTING blogs than I have criticizing them -- at least 9 to 1 at my last count, unless you count the jokes about the biznet blogs, which I don't, as those are bots anyway.

For all the due diligence the individual who criticized me promised in promoting the blog I criticized, he has left a scant single reply. It seems to me, one who was working to rectify such a "human rights violation" could do more than that. I think an homage blog to the greatness of your subject wouldn't be out of order.

The flagrant asshat attitude expressed to me by this individual and some of his friends (not all...most are, fairly, not taking sides) does nothing to encourage me to mend fences. If anything, it encourages me to build them higher.

signing off,

Gideon MacLeish

Look out, Gideon Al Sadr, quick, find a sacred shrine to hide in!!!! Get out the holy rocket propelled hand grenade. 1....2.....5!!! Hold on to your beards and turbans boys......we've got a human rights violator here. A criticism? That's some kind of terrorist torture, right? Do they still have all their teeth and toenails? Not when we get through with them. We'll criticize them to the DEATH!!!!!

umm, I can't get in the shrine. Roger Ebert got there before me.

You shouldn't need a shrine! I totally agree with you! Their is nothing wrong with criticism. its lol make fun of the big guys however and you can rain down trouble on yourself hehe. Watch out some of them rule with iron fists. I'm new to this whole JC place. Haven't met the JC king so don't know personaly but this should be interesting.

...excellent point!

I had to shake my head that I would be accused of "human rights violations". That one was just WAY too funny.

Gid....i wholeheartedly agree, and this ones for you!

Thanks, LW

Some people just have too much Dogma in them. Did you know that Dogma in reverse is Am god? That pretty much defines them.

Me, sometimes I admit that I am not good in accepting criticism, but making a personal war based on that? Not me.

Never heard that one before. I like it.

Well, "dogma" in most religions is a code of beliefs accepted as authoritative.  But, considering that the person in question claims not to be religious, this should not pertain to him.

In general, I think this whole thing is rather stupid.  People have the right to write about they want on their own blog.  If it in violation of the site rules, and admin will comment.  Otherwise, it is no place of the other bloggers to say that you can't write something.  And *everyone* has the choice to blacklist or delete comments.  It's your house, you can decide who stays or goes.  If somebody has a problem with that, they are taking this all to seriously and need to re-evaluate.

JoeUser isn't really a blog site. It's more a melodramatic, soap-opera-ish Internet community where they all mud wrestle for ranks, points and attention... but albeit, quite entertaining when you don't have a tv around

I agree, karma. Now that I've cooled down a bit, I'm actually moderately amused at how much buzz this has generated. Heck, any damage I MIGHT have done the original blog (I really don't think I did it any) has been more than compensated by the attention that has been brought about by the melodrama.

The beauty of it is, it's both...thanks for your insightful comment
