The journey from there to here
Cheers to:

Michael Phelps -- It doesn't matter that you won't catch Spitz. You've shown in every event and are definitely golden.

Iraqi soccer team -- even if this is as far as you go, you will still go home winners. Our hearts are with you!

US Men's Gymnastics -- Excellent showing; great success story. We love you guys.

US Women's Gymnastics -- In one of the sports where we are not consistently dominant, you have shown yourselves to be champions

The land of Oz -- This will truly be your Olympics to remember

Ian Thorpe -- see above. A spectacular swimmer

Puerto Rico -- even if it was just a bunch of brainless idiots, it takes true champions to not let themselves get beaten in the head. You guys are superb (now, if you could just vote for statehood and take the place of those airheads we have representing our country at present...)

Greece -- Olympics are flowing smoothly despite preOlympic doubts (maybe this post could get me some free baklava?)

Jeers to

US Basketball -- I don't need to say any more on this

Iran -- poor sports, poor showing

All the Idiots who chose doping above trying to become a true champion: You have shamed your country, and your chosen sports.

May I second this! Especially the bit about OZ!

Congrats to the US for the 200m Relay, as much as it pains me to admit, they deserved the win!

Cosmos!

Yes, they did. It has been a great games so far, despite the jeers.

Jeers to some of the NBC interviewers for asking mindless, insulting, or obnoxious questions.
I half expected the one lady who interviewed Courtney and Carly after their silver medal to ask if Carly felt that her substandard performance on beam and bars was responsible for them not getting the gold.

Athletics is on the second week of the program - the Marathon is the very last event - it is being held at the Parthenon (sp?) What a feeling that will be for the athletes and the 50000 strong crowd sitting on one of the oldest structures on earth!!!

BAM!!!
