I was recently sniped by an anonymous user who said they had never seen anything so venomous and misguided as my post. The post was one on Michael Moore, and I went back and took an objective look at it to examine if the allegations were, indeed, true. They weren't.
I would say that my position (the worst I called Moore was a "muppet"), while definitely one sided, fairly presented the argument I was trying to advance, that Moore's endorsement of Kerry might ultimately help Bush more than it hurts Kerry. But it was yet another example of a user who clearly does not understand the nature of opinion.
When I present an opinion, I do not have to give "equal time" to the other side. It is YOUR job to research your argument, NOT MINE. Frankly, if you were to know much about me and my opinions, you would know I am remarkably restrained at times.
We have become a nation who tends to "believe anything we read". The point is, ladies and gentlemen, what you are reading here or in any of my other blogs is a presentation of the world as I see it. You may disagree with it, you may agree with it, you may agree with some of it and disagree with the rest...I don't care. It's my opinion to express.
I suggest if you feel that my blogs are so "misguided and venomous", that you sign up for a JU account, start a blog, and categorically address your point of view. I'd love to hear it, even if I don't agree with it (I could present a list of joeusers with whom I STRONGLY disagree, but with whom I have developed a mutual respect). But if you feel the need to come on MY thread and to snipe MY comments, I would present that you may be able to find more productive hobbies elsewhere (crochet, maybe?)
signing off,
Gideon MacLeish
