One of the pitfalls of IT is that the demand is strong enough, a lot of people get hired out before they get their degrees, then never go back and finish. I'm trying to avoid that.
But I got a clipping yesterday I can't ignore entirely. It is an IT position, and I am almost the perfect candidate. My only shortcoming is that it requires an Associates degree, and I am 3 months short. But since I can make it work with my schedule, I will at least discuss the position with these guys. After all, I will have my Associates before I complete my probationary period, which makes it a low risk.
One of the keys to the job, however, is how much they support my continuing ed. The path ahead, for me, is clear: get my Bachelors, head on to law school. I'm not going to sacrifice that goal for a couple of bucks. This job would mean $3 an hour extra, but it would also require a small move. Again, probably just for the short term.
So I'm going to send in the resume. It can't hurt to at least take a shot at this one.
