Today we made a trip to the library's used book sale. It is no secret that I am a bibliophile, and so I am drawn to these things like a moth to a flame. So, off we went.
I knew today was going to pay off nicely the second I walked in the door. I immediately spied a book that I instantly recognized from one of my favorites before we left Wisconsin. It is a book called "The Volume Encyclopedia", and it just may qualify as one of the coolest books of all time. It is 2594 pages long and it covers such a massive array of subjects that to describe it fully in the context of a blog would be impossible, so I won't even attempt to do so. Just calling it one of the coolest books ever written would suffice.
So we headed further in and, I swear, no more than about 30 seconds later I saw some more additions. Seven sets of books from the "Great Books" collection. If we had left right there, we could have described it as a good haul, but we were only beginning.
We also found the 6 volume "Cambridge Library" covering a variety of topics, a series of classroom materials on the First Amendment and a nice hardcover children's book version of the O Hanry classic "The Ransom of Little Red Chief". My oldest also walked away with another book for her Marguerite Henry collection.
Which reminds me: Doc, email me your snail mail addy. I found something I KNOW you're gonna like. That's all I'll say about that.
By the end of the day we had three boxes chock full of books to add to our library. And we had spent the magnificent sum of $20.
