The journey from there to here

I do not oppose immigration in this country. We need immigrants, and what they have brought to our culture is invaluable.

But, like most Americans, I cannot stand this acceptance of consistent entry by those who do not have a legal right to be here. We have fairly simple standards for entry, and they should be observed. Unfortunately, though, we have a policy of ignoring the crimes committed by illegal aliens because of political correctness.

If I steal your wallet, for instance, and I use your driver's license and social security number to get a job, I am guilty of identity theft. Unless I am an illegal alien, in which case, the government is all too willing to overlook the fact that I committed a felony and offer me amnesty.

If I further use those documents to obtain credit, housing, or finance a vehicle, I am guilty of fraud. Again, the exception will be made if I am an illegal alien.

If I use those documents to obtain welfare benefits and access to other social programs? Yup, you guessed it. If I were a native born American, the government would come down on me with the full force of the law. But somehow, when you're an illegal alien, it's all good.

If I wish to leave this country, and take more than $10,000 in cash with me without notifying the federal government, it's a crime. But if I'm Mexican and remit it via a wire carrier at any convenience store in the American Southwest, suddenly it's all good.

The truth is, we don't need to create a single new law to begin identifying and deporting the millions of illegals in this country. All we need to do is to use the same laws we use against every American in apprehending them and arresting them. And if those laws are, somehow, unjust, we need to repeal them for Americans as well as illegals. In a world where justice is meant to be blind, somehow, it seems she has better vision than we thought. Too bad she is not, at least, colorblind.

I agree that new immigration or criminal law isn't needed. All we need to do is enforce the current laws but that isn't happening and I doubt that will happen even when there are new laws passed.

We have jellyfish for "leaders" who care more about the illegitimate votes of illegal aliens than the rights of U.S. Citizens.

More and more I'm seeing that it isnt' the illegal aliens that are the problem, it is the politicians who should be deported.

Politicians think that if they allow 12mil illegals to become citizens that they will vote for them because of there efforts, but they have it all wrong. As soon as they become citizens of USA then they will start to concentrate there efforts on electing one of there own into office, think about it, someone that represents their need to take all that they can and get away with it. And eventually this nation or at least part of it will be corruted as Mexico's government.

As much as it seems like we are going to ruin the universe by agreeing, yes, kingbee and I would like to know.  The simple fact is that no, you cannot wire $10k across the border in one transaction.  several, yes, just as you can do several here.

But I have learned some valuable lessons on vacation.  I intend to blog on them upon my return.  Suffice it to say, that the illegals are framing the debate until we stop them.  In the end it is up to us. Are we up to the task?

I should be an ilegal alien in America then! Am I allowed the same privileges than the mexican, or do I get worse treatment than the US citizens because I am French?
