lol...I love some of your guesses. Not bad for not being American.

It will be interesting to see how you stack up against American respondents.

(and, if I were the INS tester, I'd give you bonus points for "Simpsons" references -- but that's just me!)

Okay I looked it up - Jed invokes the 25th Amendment and appoints the Speaker of the House (John Goodman)
The 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1967, reads as follows:

"Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress

Gee I hope I'd know this much on the Australian citizenship test -- but I doubt it somehow -- the Simpsons only went to Oz once and that wouldn't help you at all - The PM's name isn't Andy and he isn't a Pig Farmer -- I do know that much.

*some of those questions were very repetitive, though I didnt know all of them..*

Yeah, and I agree the UN one should have been irrelevant as well.

I'll give time for a couple more replies, then I'll post the answers (according to the INS, at least; there's some answers in here that are just plain wrong).

Trina--I am duly impressed with your knowledge...I wonder how many of us Americans would do so well on another country's test--unless it was Ireland, I fear I would fail miserably!

If the VP and the President should die at the same time (ie. The President is unable to appoint a new VP) the Speaker of the House will become the President, regardless.

lol, sandy, like I said, don't blame me, blame the INS.

George Washington was also not the first president. He was the first president under our CURRENT constitution; the first president of the United States was John Hanson. And the Declaration of Independence wasn't signed on July 4, it was signed at various dates. That's why I said "the generally accepted answers".

Hey Gid...if you are from North Carolina, Mike Easley is Gov, not Hunt...

I'm not from NC, btw...the people that provided the answers for the test are.
