I don't put my poetry out much, but this one I think you'll like. It's a song lyric, really, and it works with the tune I have in mind. It's a rough draft, but the basic idea's there (and the chorus is done):
Superman Sleeps with Winnie-the-Pooh
Superman in his caped pajamas
Is running through our hall
He can leap over tall buildings
Though he’s only two feet tall
When the night is late
He falls asleep in my hands
He’s not afraid of the big T. Rex
But he’s afraid of the boogeyman
CH:
Superman battled a dinosaur in our living room
And he drove away the monsters with our kitchen broom
Now his eyes are getting heavy
As I turn out the light
Superman sleeps with Winnie the Pooh and sleep’s his kryptonite
A thousand bad man’s bullets
Can do Superman no harm
Yet the sting of a bumble bee
Drives him into my arms
He can lift a freight train
Over his little head
Yet when the night gets late
I have to carry him off to bed
(CH)
As I look at my little boy,
I know there’ll be a day
When he becomes a young man
And puts Superman away
And when I look back to this time
As I know I’ll often do
I’ll always remember my Superman
Holding Winnie-the-Pooh
